My Health Diary App
About
I was allocated to design a mobile application for a university project through extensive user research and design thinking. My project idea is a health app that enables users to input their data through the app tracking and plan their diet, the name of the app that I have chosen is 'My health diary'; this name gives the app a personal sense which pushes users to feel connected to the app driving them to want to come back again.
Target Audience
The primary audience for this app is both men and women aged between 20 and 30, as at this age, individuals develop the need to maintain or start living a healthier life. The secondary audience for the app will be users aged 35 and 45 at this age, individuals who develop health conditions, and to relieve themselves, they could use my app to their benefit. This app is targeted towards the lower and middle class as they cannot sustain an assistant to guide them with their health to retain a healthy lifestyle.
Goals
The user can input their data, such as avoided products/allergies calorie intake, and the app will notify and alert users if the product does not meet the user requirements.
The user can scan a barcode on the app, following a list of ingredients/calories/nutrients.
The user can log their food/water and exercise and be able to update accordingly.
The obstacles to fix consist of the complications and prolonged method of reviewing individual product's information; instead, there should be an easy way to find the best suitable products; also, there are individuals that are allergic to specific ingredients, and if consumed it could lead to life-threatening consequences accordingly, I want to create this app. This app includes the facility to personalise the app according to the user's diet plan, controlling their calories, sugar, water, and other intake whilst tracking their weight loss/gain journey. This app will benefit many individuals, not only those on a precise diet plan but everyone that may want to avoid intaking ingredients they believe to be unhealthy.
The users will want to plan their diet efficiently from breakfast to dinner. I believe my app's requirements include enhancing user experience whilst shopping to make their journey quick and easy to use navigation. Users often value personalising their apps; personalisation comes with many benefits, such as brand awareness; satisfied customers tend to spread positive feedback about an app they enjoy, resulting in boosted sales (Prismetric, 2016). Great apps have a good shelf life, suggesting my app should have updates and new features to stay in trend. My aim for this app is for users to track and manage intake while gaining an easy, simple app that improves their shopping experience by speeding up the process with the barcode scanner.
